WOD Friday Jan 13, 2012

The Chief

3 power cleans (135/95)
6 pushups
9 squats

AMRAP in 3 minutes

Do 5 cycles with 1 minute rest in between each.

Your score is the total reps accomplished in all 5 cycles. Yes, you’ll have to do some math, but each full round has 18 reps.

When I’ve done The Chief in the past, if you are the middle of a round at the end of a 3 min cycle, you begin the next with the next rep of that round. For, example if you do 5 pushups at the end of a cycle, you start the next cycle with push up #6 instead of starting with power cleans.

Will… It still results in total reps at end of 5 cycles. Actually, more accurately.

Assuming there is an algorithm that supports the theory of the 3,6,9 linear progression in terms of physiologic benefit, it would make more sense to maintain that pattern per Bryan’s suggestion. Conversely, Will I am a supporter of chaos theory as well.

Will, what “B Kemp” is really saying is “I hate power cleans.” C’mon man!

No hidden meaning or hate for any movement at all. It is just easier to multiple total rounds done at the end x 18 than adding a bunch of compound fractions.

The world will continue to spin on the proper axis…..

It would be even easier to just not do the WOD at all. But just for you Bryan and Rick I will modify the WOD as follows:

    3 power cleans
    6 pushups
    9 squats
    369 burpees

You may begin the 2nd cycle where you left off on the first.

  7. Bryan K

My apologies for the perceived quibbling. Your programming, your standards.

Did the 11am, and missed the burpee notice – darn! It was a great progression Will as you prescribed!

Anybody post results here? I am thinking about doing this one and would like to know a good score to shoot for. Thanks!

Jonny got 444, that was the best of the day I think. Richie, Scott, Dustin, Sam, and maybe a few others were all in the 400s. I got 398.

Wow! And I thought I had done well. However ya’ll proved me wrong. My forearms were thrashed!

Correction: The top of the board was held by my husband, Mike Keegan, with 456. He was the Wod Killa of the day!

I’ll let you guys know tomorrow how I do. Just did the Tabata This! WOD today. Thanks for the targets, hopefully I can give them a run for.

Another great WOD ( i.e. horrible during…). Have to give thanks to my girl for pushing me. Score – 555 Rxd.

Impressive as always Mark, are you sure there is no way you can represent BHCF for the open this year;)

Thank you Kelie, I appreciate that. I’d love to help out any way I can but not sure how I could represent BHCF here in Cali….
